One of the most attractive features of the latest Xiaomi OS, MIUI 9, is its split-screen feature. Its release was highly anticipated before it finally hit the market. Generally, it is believed that the split screen function will be a standard feature on the MIUI 9. However, latest reports suggest that even with the MIUI 9 upgrade, only selected models can support the split-screen function.
Recently, Xiaomi announced on its MIUI official forum that the MIUI 9 split screen feature only supports Android N and the kernel version cannot support the split-screen function.
MIUI 9 split-screen feature is compatible with 16 Xiaomi smartphones. This will be really disappointing for many Xiaomi fans but it is the honest truth. We can only hope that subsequently, other models will be added. The listed models are
- Xiaomi Mi MIX
- Xiaomi Mi Note 2
- Xiaomi Mi 6
- Xiaomi Mi Max
- Xiaomi Mi Max 2
- Xiaomi Mi 5
- Xiaomi Mi 5s
- Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus
- Xiaomi Mi 5c
- Xiaomi Mi 5x
- Xiaomi Mi 4S
- Xiaomi Mi 4c
- Xiaomi Mi Note (Top Version)
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X (High Version)
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 3
A majority of the Xiaomi Mi smartphones can support split-screen function. For Redmi, only the two versions of Redmi Note 4X can support this function, the rest are basically on Android 6.0 or even earlier kernel versions thus cannot support the split-screen feature.
